Presentation Delivery Workshop, 2 Classes
Does the word "presentation" cause you to break out into a nervous sweat? Or perhaps you're someone who doesn't mind giving presentations, but could use a boost in your delivery skills? In this 2-part workshop, you and up to 9 other participants will hone your skills by learning: To analyze your audience and how to adapt your presentation content to your audience's wants and needs
This series of classes prepares you for presenting in three sessions. Attendees are not required to take all of the classes but their ability to participate fully will be seriously impaired if they don’t.
Class 1
Wednesday November 14th
In this session we will cover audience analysis and structuring the storyline of a short 5 minute presentation that you've brought to the class. We will also practice the art of telling a story by reading children's books.
Class 2
Wednesday November 16th
In this session students will present the latest versions of their presentations and get feedback from the instructor and the class. Each student will present multiple times and will be videotaped. Please bring a thumb drive to collect your video file. Each student will be given a set of exercises for homework.
What you look like when you speak by being filmed and having that film analyzed with you How to be more entertaining by pumping more energy and storytelling skills into your presentation Students will walk away with at least one video of themselves presenting. To get the most out of this course, bring a short 5-7 minute presentation to work on with the group. Presentations will run on the instructors Mac and should be in PowerPoint or Keynote.
About the Instructor
Martha Denton is a freelance visual communications specialist focused on design, delivery and capability building in the presentation and infographics fields. She has worked with Fortune 500 Companies, major non-profits, professional services and government entities. Prior to being freelance, Martha with McKinsey & Company for 11 years. To keep her skills sharp and her passion satiated, she volunteers as the Presentation Guru for Ignite NYC and TEDxHarlem, which involves coaching speakers and designing presentations.
